Robinson Crusoe Reading the Bible, painting by Newell Convers Wyeth (1882 – 1945) Known as N. C. Wyeth, an American artist and illustrator. He became one of America’s greatest illustrators. During his lifetime, Wyeth created over 3,000 paintings and illustrated 112 books, 25 of them for Scribner’s, the Scribner Classics, which is the work for which he is best known. The first of these, Treasure Island, was one of his masterpieces and the proceeds paid for his studio. Wyeth was a realist painter just as the camera and photography began to compete with his craft. He is notably the father of Andrew Wyeth and the grandfather of Jamie Wyeth, both celebrated American painters.
ONE YEAR DAILY BIBLE READING SCHEDULE
Here is a One Year Daily Bible Reading schedule I created from several one year plans. It is an ambitious plan, and is not a one-year through the Bible plan, but more like a one-year two times through the Bible plan. I have taken the daily Psalms readings from an Episcopal Daily Bible Readings calendar which I like because I read all the Psalms every 7 weeks.
Following this schedule, you will read through: (1) all the Psalms every 7 weeks and (2) two or more times through the (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes (twice), Song of Songs (once), and two or more times each year through: (3) the Old Testament Torah and Histories, (4) the Prophets, (5) the Epistles, and (6) the Gospels and Acts.
I added to each day, one of the fruits of the spirit for contemplation.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
It is an ambitious reading program and requires sufficient time each day to keep up. I have had the time for the past 16 years since I put it together. I recommend a good Study Bible, like the ESV Study Bible. Click here for the ESV Study Bible – Amazon link. I use the Large Print version.
Praise the Lord! It is not perfect, but I like it. It begins with two prayers before reading the Bible.
A Prayer of John Calvin before reading the Bible
O Lord, Heavenly Father, in whom is the fullness of light and of wisdom, enlighten our minds by the Holy Spirit, and give us grace to receive your Word with reverence and humility, without which no one can understand your truth. For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

A Prayer of B. F. Wescott before reading the Bible
Blessed Lord, by whose providence all holy Scriptures were written and preserved for our instruction, give me grace to study them this and every day, with patience and love. Strengthen my soul with the fullness of their divine teaching. Keep from me all pride and irreverence. Guide me in the deep things of thy heavenly wisdom, and of thy great mercy lead me by thy word unto everlasting life: through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
